Ötztal/Pitztal

Ötztal is located southwest of Innsbruck on the border of the Ötztal and Stubai Alps. It is one of the highest ski regions in Austria, which guarantees excellent snow conditions throughout the winter season. The Ötztaler Ache river flows through the Ötztal valley, which is bordered by almost 60,000 mountain peaks.

The Ötztal area is associated with the famous finding of the iceman Ötzi. The area consists of three main ski resorts. At the beginning of the valley lies Oetz, followed by Sölden - the heart of the valley, and at the end, there is the relatively unknown Obergurgl-Hochgurgl resort. Ötztal offers ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding in all their forms.

Of course, there are other options for winter and summer sports in the area such as skating, curling, winter hiking or horse-drawn sleigh rides. Ötztal is popular for tourists, runners and lovers of Nordic walking. The area offers over 1,300 km of marked trails. You can also play golf or enjoy more extreme sports such as rafting, canoeing, paragliding and more. If you fancy relaxation, the extensive Aqua Dome thermal baths in Längenfeld is an ideal place for you.

The Pitztal ski area lies 60 km west of Innsbruck. The Pitztal Valley is 45 km long, and its landmark is Tyrol's highest mountain Wildspitze.

Pitztal is proud about 46 glaciers at a total area of 25 km2. The valley ends with the ridge of the Ötztal Alps, where the Pitztal Glacier is located. The ski resort Pitztaler Gletscher lies directly below it, and it offers skiing from a height of 3,440 m above sea level.

Three other ski areas complement the glacier: Hochzeiger, Imst and Rifflsee. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, there are other winter activities available, such as winter mountain hiking, snowshoeing in the untouched winter landscape, ice skating or tobogganing. The location also provides excellent conditions for cross-country skiers. In summer there is cycling, tennis, horse riding, canoeing and rafting on the Inn River on offer.
